Community Advisory Council to Meet Tuesday

Hernandez Bill Would Allow Drunk Drivers to Serve Time at Their Jobs
Here's a good one: Did you know state Assemblyman Roger Hernandez, D-West Covina, recently authored a bill that would allow convicted drunken drivers to serve their community service hours at their jobs? The bill, AB 2127, is opposed by Mothers Against Drunk Driving. It's also opposed by Peggy Mew, former state Sen. Dick Mountjoy's longtime chief of staff. She wrote this on Facebook:
Proposed Cuts in Governor's Revised Budget Plan

WHITTIER - A man who broke into a clothing store ran from police but was later arrested Monday. An officer checking out an alarm at a business in the 14200 block of Lambert Road at 12:59 a.m. saw a smashed window. He also spotted a man inside the store tossing clothes out the broken window, Whittier police Lt. Randy Inman said.
Metrolink Riders Face Up to 9 Percent Fare Hike
Metrolink passengers who ride the train to work instead of driving may no longer be able to avoid paying for the high cost of fuel. Like solo drivers and truckers, rail commuters could soon be paying for a whopping 78percent increase in the cost of diesel fuel through higher ticket prices, according to Metrolink.
