Former state Sen. Charles Calderon of Whittier will returning to the state Legislature, as he defeated two local councilmen and a school board member by large margins in Tuesday's election.
Calderon received 37 percent of the vote for 8,470 votes to Whittier Councilman Owen Newcomer's 22 percent and 4,968 votes, Pico Rivera Councilman David Armenta's 21 percent and 4,790 votes and Gerri Guzman, a Montebello school board member and city treasurer, who received 20 percent of the vote for 4,495 votes.See the full content of this document
