In the fall of 1998, Ray Bringham, the founder of Prayer Summit Ministry, called me one day to challenge our town to have a citywide Prayer Summit. The event would call on pastors, prayer intercessors and church leaders to pray for Whittier and for a National Prayer Summit in Washington, D.C., that was scheduled around the time of the annual President's Prayer Breakfast in February.
Many pastors in Whittier responded with a "YES!" to Ray's challenge. After we scrambled in a flurry of preparation, we convened our first Prayer Summit on Jan. 7, 1999, at the then- Hilton Hotel in Uptown Whittier.See the full content of this document
