Crime Falls Across San Gabriel Valley Areas Patrolled by Sheriff's Deputies

Violent crimes and thefts fell in the first half of this year in most San Gabriel Valley communities patrolled by the Sheriff's Department - with the strong exception of Altadena, where property crimes spiked by nearly 40 percent, new figures show.

The number of homicides in deputy patrolled areas dropped by more than 17 percent overall, compared to the same period last year. As a whole, violent crimes dropped by nearly 4 percent in areas patrolled by deputies, according to statistics released by the Sheriff's Department.
