In a letter sent Tuesday, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger asked President Bush to make available the California Air National Guard 146th Airlift Wing's Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System II for this wildfire season.
"As we prepare for the 2008 wildfire season, I have directed state agencies to identify California's capabilities and available federal assets and to complete other necessary preparations for wildfire prevention," Schwarzenegger wrote. "Last year, the state was without the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) capability, owned by the U.S. Forest Service and flown by the California Air National Guard's 146th Airlift Wing.See the full content of this document
