Summary


WHITTIER - Three Whittier-area schools are getting sizable state grants that will pay between $500 and $1,000 per student to help increase student achievement through class-size reduction and more training for teachers and principals.

Evergreen Elementary in the East Whittier City School District, Aeolian Elementary in the Los Nietos School District, and La Merced Intermediate in the Montebello Unified School District are among 488 low-performing public schools statewide that will get grants from the Quality Education Investment Act.
