Government waste and fraud have cost California some $19 billion over the past decade, according to a study by the California Taxpayers' Association. Some lawmakers think a new state office could keep the same from happening in the coming decade.
A bill authored by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-Pasadena, would establish an office of the California Inspector General to investigate fraud, corruption and mismanagement that wastes public dollars.See the full content of this document
