People going outside today should prepare for the first chilly tickle of rain expected to turn into a series of storms that will slap the Southland later this week.

A cold front from the Gulf of Alaska dusted the mountains in Northern California Saturday and today it may bring about as much as a half-inch of rain to the Los Angeles area, weather observers said.
