LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE - NASA's latest space telescope opened its eyes to the sky Tuesday afternoon for the first time since it launched two weeks ago.

At 2:30 p.m., engineers sent a set of signals to the spacecraft that literally blew its top off so that the telescope could take in its first rays of light.
