WHITTIER -- When his 28-year-old soldier son refused deployment to Iraq in June, Bob Watada set off from his Honolulu home on a nationwide mission to build support and awareness for his son s refusal to fight in that war.

First Lt. Ehren Watada, assigned to the Army s Third Stryker Brigade of the Second Infantry Division, is facing court-martial and a maximum of 8 1/2 years in a military prison if convicted of all seven counts against him, which include disloyalty and conduct unbecoming of an officer, among others.
